Italy >> Südtirol >> Weißwein

South Tyrol is the northern part of the double region Trentino-Alto Adige, Trentino is the name of the southern part. Two wine cultures met here, who passed on their knowledge to each other. The Romans learned from the Celts the handling and production of wooden barrels for the wine. Since the region was the only acceptable passage across the Alps in the Middle Ages, viticulture was booming during this time.
The 5500ha of vineyards are located at an altitude of 500 to 1000m above sea level on the slopes of the valley. Despite the altitude, the grapes are very ripe, as the sun and the heat are stored well in the protected valley. Relatively large temperature fluctuations result in a longer ripening time, which in turn results in more intense aromas for the wine.
