Italy >> Piedmont >> Weißwein

From Barolo to Barbaresco, without forgetting Gavi and Monferrato, Piedmont offers unique and fascinating wines. 80% of the wines produced are DOC, mainly from local grape varieties: Nebbiolo for red wine, basis for Barolo and Barbaresco, but also for Ghemme, Nebbiolo d'Alba and Gattinara. Cortese (for Gavi) and Arneis (for Roere Arneis) are the two most important white wines. The climate in Piedmont is very unstable. In autumn there are dense fog fields in the valleys, the winter is very cold and humid. Summer, on the other hand, is very hot, but the cool winds from the northern Alps put this heat into perspective.
