Italy >> Sicily >> Rotwein

The largest Mediterranean island is experiencing a real boom in recent years. For a long time, the focus has been on quantity rather than quality. But many winegrowers from the north have recognized the potential and invested a lot in the infrastructure. For 10 years the share of top wines has been growing continuously. Important white wine varieties are Catarratto followed by the fruity Trebbiano and the aromatic Inzolia and Grillo. The Nero d'Avola remains the most cultivated and best red wine variety. These wines are full-bodied, soft and have a long ageing potential.
