Sparkling >> Frankreich
Some of the french sparkling wines are world famous. This is of course the Champagne listed in its own category in our shop. And the Crémants are some of these famous sparklers.
In some regions the sparkling wines are produced the same way with bottle fermentation but the denomination Crémant is not yet allowed in all french regions.
The oldest method of producing sparkling wines is the "méthode ancestrale". The fermentation starts in tanks or casks and the fermenting wine is then bottled. The resulting sparkling wine is produced with its own natural yeasts and usually doesn't need any chaptalization. This way you will get sparkling wines (mousseux) or semi-sparkling wines (pétillant or PetNat).
